Our Story

If not now, when? This is the question we asked ourselves and fueled journey to purchasing our dream farm. We moved from suburban Melbourne to homesteading in Western Gippsland mid 2018, and through this space we will document our journey.

We are a family of 5 who dreamt of being self sufficient, so we sold our 720m2 suburban house block and bought a 54 acre farm. We plan on rearing our own meat and growing as many of our fruits and vegetables as we can. We inherited 20 sheep with the farm and have acquired 3 pigs to till the veggie patch. We already have 10 chickens but plan on getting more, to work in the garden, provide us with eggs and meat. Our children are transitioning from traditional school to being homeschooled. We will be combining book work with free range learning.

Paul grew up on a 24 acre farm and dreamed of raising his children in the same lifestyle he grew up in, and I  used to visit my uncle as a child and dreamed of being a farmer one day. I suggested that instead of going on a big trip to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary that we sell our house that we had been renovating for the past 6 years and buy our dream farm instead.

We would love it if you would come and follow along our journey as we transform our farm and lifestyle! You can watch our story here From Suburbia to Homesteading
